abstract = "The objective of this research was to verify the historical
changes in the landscape between three periods, 1985 until 1995,
1995 until 2005 and 2005 until 2013 in temporal analysis of land
cover in the port area of Santos. The result of the supervised
classification of Landsat imagery allowed us to map the initial
and final times of each period and to develop dynamic models of
the landscape. Spatial patterns of change in land cover can be
analyzed from spatial dynamics modeling. This modeling can
describe factors that have influenced territorial changes as well
as enable the estimation of future impacts over the simulated
environment. The dynamic modeling software Dinamica EGO 2.4
allowed building simulation models based on cellular automata and
transition functions. The simulated models for 1995 and 2005 were
similar to the actual thematic mapping and showed a good
evaluation. The transition matrices allowed quantifying the
amendments tabled by the total area, and the percentage of each
class. The explanatory variables related to secondary roads and to
distance to the urban class were the main variables that averaged
weights of positive evidence in transitions, with influence over
distances of 300 meters of the secondary roads and 500 meters of
                         the Urban class.",
